Emily and Harry’s great African romance touches the hearts of all who visit our river lodge. Their love was forged in the heart and wildness of our great continent and continues today on the banks of the Bitou River over every glass of red wine shared under starry skies, and in every heartwarming toast and “I do”. Destination weddings have a unique way of pulling you away from life’s familiar framework into a breathtaking location, a fresh canvas that becomes the backdrop to a new chapter in your life’s great love story. They are extended vacation-like celebrations with the select few who are close, the ones who have stood by you through the exclamation points and question marks of life.
Today, we follow Kelly and Lloyd as their tale is knit into the Emily Moon fabric, from a morning sunrise hike around our grounds (view blog post here), to their wedding preparations, secret words shared on Emily’s jetty, glasses ‘chinked’ in Harry’s hideaway and final fireside moments.
Elements of Africa thread through their day, from a flower crown formed with indigenous plants and seed pods (responsibly foraged by Rebecca from Runaway Romance), to the handmade terracotta and glass beads hanging off their wedding table. Africa is made of pure adventure and this is adventurous love.
“And on this day forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.” – Kahlil Gibran
