Perched above the Bitou River and surrounded by wetlands, Emily Moon River Lodge is a birder’s paradise, and home to over 150 species of birds. One of the rarest inhabitants, the Sooty Falcon, has returned to Emily Moon during this time for the last four years. To watch the Sooty Falcon perched in his favourite tree, or hunting in the wetlands below is a sighting of a lifetime.
Gareth Robbins, specialist birding guide, has put together an exciting schedule which includes a seabirding pelagic trip and a cruise down the Keurbooms River. During the weekend we will be covering a range of habitats from sea, rivers, estuaries and wetlands to forest, fynbos, farmlands and thicket.
